ARISEN (Autoimmunity, Rasmussen’s, Inflammation & Status Epilepticus research Network) Mission Statement:
ARISEN is dedicated to advancing research, collaboration, and patient-centered innovation to improve understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of autoimmune encephalitis (AE), Rasmussen syndrome (RS)/Rasmussen's encephalitis (RE), and new onset refractory status epilepticus (NORSE), including its sub-type, febrile infection-related epilepsy syndrome (FIRES).
Advancing Research in Rare Neuroinflammatory Diseases
- Commitment to Rare Neurological Diseases
ARISEN focuses on rare but severe neurological conditions: autoimmune encephalitis (AE), Rasmussen syndrome (RS)/Rasmussen's encephalitis (RE), and new onset refractory status epilepticus (NORSE), including its sub-type, febrile infection-related epilepsy syndrome (FIRES). - Collaboration Across Institutions
ARISEN brings together researchers, clinicians, and patient advocacy groups to accelerate clinical trial readiness in these diseases. ARISEN includes more than 20 sites across the United States, including people with different areas of research, clinical interests, and expertise. - Patient Advocacy Group Partnership
The mission emphasizes empowering patients and families. By integrating their voices, ARISEN ensures that research interests develop tangible improvements in care and quality of life, with a cure as the ultimate goal. - Innovation and Translation
ARISEN seeks to bridge the gap between clinical trial readiness, laboratory discoveries, and clinical practice. The mission of ARISEN highlights the importance of translating research into improved diagnostics, therapies, educational resources, and outcome measures that directly benefit patients and their loved ones.
